Collazo Floating Strainer Model CFS-S-1
The Collazo Floating Strainer was invented by Mr. Angel Torres Collazo, who is President of the Company Collazo Electrical Contractors Inc.. The equipment was properly patented, with the number US 7,241,384 B1. Mr. Angel Torres Collazo has worked for over 30 years in the industry, has vast knowledge in the processes of treatment plants. As a great connoisseur of systems operations treatment plants his ingenuity led to solve multiple situations within the industrial environment. Actually continues developing his inventiveness and creativity into the modern industry. The Collazo Floating Strainer Model CFS-S-1 (see Figure 1.1) is an equipment with an aquatic Eco-Industrial purpose (Green Technologies). This equipment has the ability to float, allowing it to take clean water near the surface. In those near the surface of the water are also higher concentrations of oxygen, which is processes of industrial plants.

Collazo Floating Strainer Background of the Invention
In 1998 as part of a solution to a situation that was confronting the Patillas Lake Plant (drinking water treatment plant of the Aqueduct and Sewer Authority of Puerto Rico) Mr. Collazo invented this first experimental prototype, which today continuing in operations without any maintenance and in excellent condition.
Due to the equipment is in Stainless Steel material it not was rust, the mesh that contain the equipment prevent that the plant pump systems was damaged, has prevented that fish’s, algae’s and other aquatic species have been affected by the treatment plant processes. The Patillas plant is operating in excellent condition; their performance has increased significantly, and has significantly reduced the maintenance costs of filtration systems Plant.
This equipment is a great technology because it has the following objectives:a) Protect the aquatic life.
b) Reduce Global Warming.
c) Reduces Industrial Maintenance.
d) Increases Industrial Performance.
e) Increasing the quality of water for industrial processes.
f) Sucking water in the area of greatest concentration of oxygen.
g) Significant reduction in electricity consumption.
h) Is Green Technology equipment.
The Collazo Floating Strainer has many applications for the Pharmaceutical, Petrochemical, Power Plants, drinking water Treatment Plants, agricultural crops, large-scale water fountains, and other industries that require large amounts of water for their processes and are located near a natural or artificial water bodies. It can be installed in places where there are water bodies such as sea, lakes, rivers and oceans. This equipment avoids the frequent maintenance to the pumps systems, filtration systems and results in an excellent Performance to avoid stopping the operations of the plant for reasons of maintaining the pumping and filtration systems.
From an environmental point of view this equipment protects aquatic life, allowing aquatic species can co-exist in the industrial areas. Since it is a floating equipment, prevents suction of plants and animals protecting life from the bottom of the water body (see attached expanded diagram). In the case of species that come close to the equipment during the suction, the mesh that have the equipment isolate the concentrated suction allowing a sufficient distance for aquatic species and fish’s to escape for the direct suction.
The model CFS-S-1 has dimensions that are configured in size depending on the capacity of Plant or Industry that be installed.
